Excellent! Fantastic way to see the city and get a sense of its history. Great experience, I highly recommend the two day-all- day tour. It allows time to take in highlights and return to those locations you would like to spend more time at. The drivers are courteous, highly skilled and professional. It was great to leave the driving to Big Bus! They know the city’ terrain. Looking forward to other tour with Big Bus. Randolph
I have been on hop on/hope off tours in most of the big cities in the U.S. and Canada and it was always well worth the money. The stops are odd, the recorded narration and music in-between is not well done. San Francisco has so much that can be said about it, having more music (and I use the term lightly because it was the same about 32 bars over and over and over) than narrative is off-putting. We took the night tour and for the first half of the tour, the driver was down-right rude. He warmed up, but............
Ever staff member was helpful and polite except one. Bus Stop 5 at 1030 on June 18 was unprofessional and unhelpful. We missed two buses because he said no empty places available even if 9 people left the bus in front of us. Finally, one helpful driver allowed us to enter even if this guy tried to stop us. Really a bad experience that destroy all the good job by many others.
Terrible?? First of all and I mean all employees think that we know how to use the buses, so there is no communication. Second the buses are not seniors friendly. The stops are far from the sites (except the shopping), making it hard to get too your destination. They did not point out important details of the cities. Which I’m sure there are many details. Some stops should be only drive by, not get off, because once you get off you have to do the whole routes again. I spend more time on the bus then looking at the sites. And all you hear is it’s a big city and a lot of traffic, well I’ve taken buses hop off hop on in NYC , DC, and nothing was worst then this. I enjoy the Golden Gate Bridge but I went to it so many times I hate it. Don’t waste your time fine so other company. Because hop on hop off bus are nice when traveling in big cities
Nowhere does it say that big bus owns this line. We found out the day we went to use our tickets. The stop wasn't where it said. We went to big bus office and they told us to use their stops. Save money and buy your tickets through big bus. The tours, themselves varied, depending on an audio trip or a live person.
We purchased tickets to do the 24hr red route. We got on the bus and the people spend more time heckling other tourists to buy tickets and yelling at them from the bus windows instead of driving it was pathetic. Our driver was Kirk and Frank sold us the tickets. When we finally left, we got off the bus at Fisherman’s wharf walked around and walked down to Ghirardelli Square as the bus had a stop there so figured we would just jump back on as they said there’s a bus every 20-30mins. We got to the stop at 3:20 and waited till 5:00 NO bus. So we ended up walking to the cable cars spending an extra $14 onto of the $80 that the bus tour cost us to get home. We went to talk to them to get our money back as we didn’t get to see anything we wanted to and wasted our entire day. They wouldn’t give us any money back and got totally ripped off. So a heads up STAY far away from this company it’s a joke! We were here on Nov 26/2019.
Kirk, the driver and tour guide was fantastic. He was informative and funny. He slowed down at popular spots to take pictures. I really wanted to see Lombard Street and the Painted Sisters. To see Lombard street from the tour route, you would need binoculars. To see the Painted Sisters, you needed to get off and walk two blocks. I do realize that it is a hop on and hop off tour, however in other cities, you hop off if you want to further explore the specific location, you don’t have to hop off and walk two or three blocks to actually see the attraction. If the brochures highlighted that we couldn’t specifically see those locations while staying on the bus, we would have opted for another vendor. The stop at the Golden Gate Bridge offered sufficient time to take pictures. Overall it did allow us to learn lots of interesting things about the city and would recommend the tour if you realize you do have to hop off to see a lot of the attractions.
