Excellent tour with Aaron as our tour guide and driver. Aaron picked us up at our hotel on time, history teacher by background so is very well read, an amazing historian and teacher. Gave us all the facts about the Big Island and very detail review of all the 7 or 8 destination points. Very safe driver! Truly- the 13 hour excursion went very smoothly, on time and we had enough time to spend at each destination. Well organized trip by Wasabi. We would recommend this tour to everyone. Must do!
Im not sure how to pick a favorite. I enjoyed the drive around the big island while learning both practical and metaphorical information about the island and culture from our guide Dreu. Who is both an extremely gifted storyteller and guide. I was very worried that my ADHD and tendency to get bored easily would make an all day tour to hard for me, but it was really wonderful and engaging the entire time! I really enjoyed all of it and I think our guide gets the credit for bringing that level of engagement. We had a great day with turtle sightings. (6 on the beach) The contrast of the volcano crater in the day and at night. Our transportation was comfortable. We learned a lot and got to see so many fun things. Thanks Dreu!
Dreu was our tour guide, and he was definitely the best tour guide I have ever seen! He is funny and knowledgeable, you will never have a down time with him. He explains things everywhere we go. We really enjoy having him as our tour guide! Highly recommended!
The volcano during the day and night topped it off. While on the tour Aaron our guide was one of the best tour guides. His knowledge of the history of the island and the stops along the way. If you are looking for a day and night tour don't miss this one.
This tour was a great pairing with Waiapi'a Valley & Waterfalls to see nearly all of the Big Island in two days. I loved the time we spent in the Volcanoes National Park and that we went to the crater in the afternoon and again after dark to see the magma coloring reflected in the stream and sky. Our guide, Aaron, shared a lot of Hawaii information during the drive and at the sites. He had a great deal of information to share during the stargazing stops too. It was a really wonderful tour and a nice group of folks, too. We enjoyed sharing dinner time together.
Great tour, saw most of the island, Amazing stops and the Kilauea crater was the highlight! Be prepared for a much much longer day than they tell you. The last 3 hours on the road was hard, dark, van was so cold and you meed to bring heavy coats and warm clothing as they do not tell you how cold it will be and they did not provide warm clothes as promised. Our tour was 3 hours longer than they outlined and even when I called to know specifics I was not told we would be driving 1.5 hours to Hilo and then back, made for a long day and after all that we had to turnaround from Hilo as it was so cold and no way to see stars. The trip was really great but just be prepared for a really really long day on the road. We had barely 30 minutes on the black sand beach but had to endure hours in the van to no end, call the on site team and get the details before you go.
This is the best way to see the island. I'd heavily recommend doing this excursion early on your trip to give you a better idea what you want to do the rest of your trip. Our guide Dastan was awesome. He was engaging, funny, incredibly knowledgeable. He gave just the right mix of history, culture, and sightseeing tips. At the end of the trip he made sure he gave each couple tips on what to do the rest of the week. Volcano national park was awesome. Did the park, went to dinner then came back after dark to see the glow from the lava. Finished the trip star gazing at above 6300 foot elevation. Dastan had warm jackets for anyone who needed them. Perfect way to start our stay on the Big Island
Returning to the volcano at night to view the glow of the lava and see the stars. The orange glow from the lava and the line up of the crescent Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn that night, were spectacular! The stars, black sand beach, the volcano... the whole tour was breathtaking. Aaron, our guide, is a wealth of information.
That our guide Dreu managed to keep 6 couples who were previously unknkown to each other entertained for 13 hours was an amazing feat in itself. We were fortunate enough to have booked this tour for our first full day on our first visit to the Big Island. It was a fun and fact filled tour that was comfortable and convenient. Dreu's energy and intelligence made for a rapid fire, stand up comedy, fact filled day. He's easily one of the best tour guides we've ever experienced. His effort and attention to detail and the concerns of his customers was relentless. An impressive feat. The Island itself has many beautiful spots. To go from the surface of the moon, lava flow terrain on one part of the lsland to the lush tropical jungles to an active lava flow. It's truly an amazing and beautiful part of the planet.
